I am a canvas.
Paint my eyes brown,
And the ground beneath my feet.
Create a body of shadows and planes,
And trace your pen,
Around my lips.
Paint blue for the sky I am reaching for,
And for the the bluebirds that I envy.
Every stroke of passion,
Sear my chest with shades of ochre and bronze,
And make my smile border on melancholy.
Wrap me in soothing tones,
Make the grass as green as the grass on the other side,
Of the fence.
For I am a canvas.
Put me to rest in a haze of gray,
And sign your name across my heart.
